OUR HISTORY

1995

1995 – 1999

In 1995 Paul Oliver and Paul Hatcher started Oliver / Hatcher Construction.  The company is driven by a desire to be better than the competition in all areas of construction. Oliver/Hatcher sets the bar higher and builds project teams with the highest standards of professionalism. The long-term relationships we've built with our clients speak to their confidence in us and our ability to satisfy their unique project needs.

In 1998 Oliver / Hatcher completed the 400,000 SF expansion of the Willow Run Business Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan.  The original building dated back to World War II, and during the war this plant produced tanks and bombers.  After the war it was converted to an assembly plant for General Motors.  The facility is currently used as a multi-tenant warehouse and distribution center.

In 1999 Oliver / Hatcher completed the rigorous process of creating and implementing a quality program to achieve ISO accreditation.  Certified under ISO 9001 standards, Oliver / Hatcher was one of only ten general contractors to have achieved this designation at the time.

2000

2000 - 2004

In 2000 Oliver/Hatcher completed the first phase of raising the 300,000 sf roof on a former General Motors Fisher Body Plant in Livonia by 15 feet, now called the Plymouth Road Technical Center.  Decked with heavy concrete planks, the 40-year-old roof weighed more than 5,500 tons. This is equivalent to eight diesel train locomotives or seventeen Boeing 747 aircraft, and measured the size of six football fields. Engineering News Record magazine called this project “the most ambitious known project of it’s kind in the U.S.”

In 2000 Oliver/Hatcher Charities hosted its first charity golf outing benefiting the Child Family Life Dept. at The University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children's Hospital at Bay Point Golf Club in West Bloomfield Twp.

In 2003 the company provided a 324,000 sf fast track build-out for Ford Motor Company.  The quick three-month move-in for was made possible by the recently constructed Building No. 9 at Brownstown Business Center in Brownstown Township. The facility’s size is equivalent to six football fields.

2005

2005 - 2009

In 2005 Oliver/Hatcher braved the Minnesota winter weather to complete our first out-of-state project. The project consisted of a 65,000 sf renovation of an existing facility.  This project would be the second of twenty retail stores that the firm has constructed for Restaurant Depot across fourteen states.

In 2006 Oliver/Hatcher relocated it's offices to the newly constructed Meadowbrook Corporate Center.  The new suite is nearly three times the size of the Wixom office and with ample room to grow.

In 2007 Oliver/Hatcher expanded into new markets with three renovation projects at Saline Hospital for St. Joseph Mercy Health System. Additionally, in 2007, the firm constructed the new Milford Medical Center.

2010

2010 - 2014

In 2010 Oliver/Hatcher continued to expand it's geographic presence by completing an 180,000 sf office renovation for the Wake County Board of Education in Cary, North Carolina.

In 2011 Oliver/Hatcher constructed a new 16,000 sf Gordon Food Service bulk foods store in the outlot of Twelve Mile Crossing at Fountain Walk in Novi

In 2012 Oliver/Hatcher re-developed a former Detroit dairy plant into a state-of-the-art milk powder processing facility for VernDale Products. VernDale is a leading manufacturer of roller-dried milk powder, which is used by premium chocolate manufacturers.

2015

2015 - 2019

In 2016 construction began on the new 115,000 SF headquarters office, R/D, and manufacturing facility for Accurate Technologies, Inc. (ATI) in Novi.

In 2018 Oliver / Hatcher expanded into the larger hospitality market, bringing our industry-leading services and personnel to complete the highly successful and much-celebrated, award-winning Holiday Inn Express in Okemos, MI.

In 2019 Oliver / Hatcher continued its tradition of giving back. Oliver / Hatcher Charities held its thirteenth charity golf outing benefiting the Child Family Life Dept. at The University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children's Hospital. The event brought the total charity fundraising efforts to over $946,000 for this worthy cause.
